went to see tower last night at the london astoria and f*** me is was crazy. one of THE best bands i have yet to see. The energy was incredible the tightness was off the scale and the whole club was erupting! I hadnt ever seen garibaldi play, id heard him for sure, but never seen him and he really is one of the true greats and its obvious why so many people count him as an influence. his drums sounded gorgeous, especially his hi-hats and he takes "playing with the band" to a totally different level. They played lots of material from their forthcoming studio album which i thought was their best stuff yet........and on one of those tunes, "page 1" i think, garibaldi was playing every part of the band! it was sooo linear but soooo funky. if that drummer cant make u dance then no one can! and it was good to see rocco back on the bass.......there was like a 5 min eruption when the band leader introduced rocco.

Fantastic band and make sure y'all get their new album in the summer!

yeah, Dave is one of my favorites and a huge influence. I used to check him out all the time whe I lived in the Bay Area. A lot of what I really enjoy about Dennis' playing comes straight from Dave.

He always seems to get a great drum sound too. What was he using on the gig? I'm assuming Beech or Recording Customs.

Damn, I wish I knew about that gig, I would have gone. I saw tower of power a few years back at the mean fiddler, and at that time the drummer was that guy who apparently was taught by garibaldi, I forget his name, but his kit was pretty much the same as ringo starrs, just 2 toms, same finish on it. Anyway, I also remember that as being the one of the best gigs I'd ever seen. Love garibaldi's playing, I think he uses maple custom. Saw him at the 'drums in the bush' day at sheperds bush along with bernard purdie, chad smith, ginger baker, and one or two others. Don't know if you remember that event louie?

I saw TOP about a month ago, expecting to watch David and Rocco the whole night. I ended up watching Larry Braggs the vocalist the whole night. He is perhaps the best male singer I have ever seen and heard! By the end of the night he still had some left. What did you think?

    ...back to David

At NAMM a few years back I was checking out a mini Johnny Rabb clinic (just before he became well known the next year)and out of the blue David walks by...unnoticed by most...looking like the professor in a college surrounded by students. He just looked so cool!

Yeah, just saw David w TOP earlier last yr...they were kickin some serious mule as hard or harder than they ever have , no joke...if they come to your town, DO NOT MISS IT... yep, their frontman is un-freekin-believable AW [another ]...& the horn sectn is superb, as usual.

Oakland Stroke is one of my all-time fave grooves - a masterful, superb one [worthy of a Gaddeckl Award - then again, DW got a lot from "the 2 G's" - Gadd & Garibaldi, it would seem ].

They need to release that [their] latest tour on DVD...
